What is a refurbished handset?

The LG P500 Optimus One (with Google) is one of the first phones to hit the market with the fantastic Android 2.2 (Froyo) pre-installed and is optimised for Google Mobile Services including Google Search, Google Maps and Google Goggles.

The Optimus One, as a mid-range handset, is one of the best value with a tasty spec for the price (available free from £15 a month), and it easily comes with enough power to provide an entertaining Android phone experience.

At 320 x 480 pixels the screen resolution is higher than similarly priced handsets, making reading text easier and providing better quality video playback. The 600Mhz processor will power through your apps, which download at 7.2Mbps - one of the fastest speeds available on current mobiles. The storage space built in to the Optimus is relatively small, but this is of little consequence as the memory is expandable up to 32GB through the use of a microSD card, with LG being so kind as to include a 2GB card in the box.

The A-GPS support, accelerometer, digital compass link in with Google Maps to give you turn-by-turn navigation by road or on foot. There's a 3.15MP auto focus camera for snaps and video recording (18fps), and a 3.5mm headphone jack to make the most of the music player. All-in-all a solid and up-to-date Android handset with great features for the price.
