If you’re after a basic handset, one that will simply make calls and send texts, then the Nokia 1616 is ideal.
It does not have internet access, nor does it have a camera, but it does feature an FM radio for music lovers, a handy flashlight on the top, and it has a decent battery life. The screen is also colour and, despite the lack of camera, the phone can receive low resolution picture messages.
The menu system is basic but functional and it is easy to navigate your way around - it even includes an ingenious spreadsheet app for keeping track of your finances.
A sure favourite with the less-experienced mobile user, it’s the perfect handset for a child or an elderly relative as it is fuss-free and simply does what it says, without the need for fiddly extras.
